(9:02am)
So my dad said that I'm not allowed on the computer today to do my blog. Doesn't bother me writing my blog. Like I said, I type them from a Blackberry with word loaded on it. I just copy and paste it to the internet. Doña is gonna get an earful about this hindrance. If I can't stay after school (parent rule) and I can't get on the computer at home (also family rule), I'll need another option. Well, I could just stay after school and do it for the sake of passing and getting out of my house (or apartment) when I graduate, or I could take hours typing on the wii, but not have pictures or videos. I'm not failing AVID again because of something as trivial as this.
(9:23am)
This girl from my church, Maya (also pastor's daughter), told me to smile. She always tells me to smile. I told her I couldn't smile because of my surgery, but truthfully, I almost never smile. Ever. Whether I'm happy, sad, mad, whatever. Ask Mr. Carney, he tells me to smile and look pleasant almost everyday. Maya has a beautiful singing voice. She may be famous one day.
(12:50pm)
I saw a side of Shekinah Henry I've never seen before. I was talking about how my blog wasn't done and how my parents don't like me on the computer, and also how they don't like me staying after school, and she was like, “You should try to pray about it to God. It's also good to have someone to talk to like Mrs. Cathirell, because she's nice and will listen to you, even though she's not supposed to be here.” (because she's 9 months pregnant. I thought she was due this past week). I've always liked Shekinah (as a person). She's always been more Jacquynn's friend.
(2:15pm)
Mrs. Hardeman, my god-mother, turned out to be my mom's cousin in law. Turns out her cousin married one of my mom's cousins on the other side of the family (my mom's a Rice, the other side is Walker ). She actually knows some of my mom's cousins. This is weird....and cool. The family I actually thought of as family is actually family. They have two daughters, one married to someone I've always called my “big brother”, and one who's a junior in college. The married one, Megan, has two kids: Isaiah (3 years old) and Adrianna (will be 1 in December), my niece and nephews.
(3:58pm)
I learned something about the Ojays. Well, a bit unorthodox, but they used to always get girls throwing their panties (or how one of the members put it, their “big ol' bloomers”) up on the stage. Teddy Pendergrass actually started it. Anyways, about my book, Return to Paradise. It's a really good book so far. It's about these two 18 year old teens that must go on a 4 week long program to tell about how reckless driving has impacted their lives. One's name is Caleb Becker and the other's is Maggie Armstrong. I'm only on chapter 4. Right now, the group has made their first stop at a summer school program. One person, Matt, has just gotten done sharing his story. He was a star receiver for his high school football team and had just gotten off of a victory against the school's rival and was at a stop light when his friend pulled next to him and they decided to race. His car turned over, and he ended up having to get his left arm amputated. Maggie's just started to tell her story; she was hit by a car, and now is left with a permanent limp. Caleb is suspected to have done it. They used to date. That's as far as I've gotten. The book's chapters are divided between Caleb's thoughts and Maggie's thoughts. I haven't gotten far in my other book, yet. But I can tell you that it has something to do with adoption.
(6:32pm)
I was going through an old phone of mine and found this video of me running the 4x4 relay in 10th grade. It was my first time running a relay since I ran in 8th grade. In 8th grade, I ran the 4x1. Of course, that was my first medal, even though I can't find it. Jacquynn has a bunch. I remember always being jealous. I never have had a sport that I could completely call my own. My brother had football and basketball, Jacquynn had basketball and track, I wasn't worried about my baby sisters. I wanted soccer or skating. Skating ended when my sisters nonchalantly lost my blades, or got them stolen, to be exact. Soccer was always my ex-girlfriend's forte. When I sprained her ankle about 4 years before we dated (in fourth grade, we dated in eighth), I felt bad and didn't try to play. I always had the same memory of hurting her and making her spend 3 months with her mom and grandma. Her mom was cool, grandma scared me. Plus, in 5th grade, I got a ball kicked in my face by a kid named Donovan Roberts. It hit me so hard, I did a back flip and blacked out. I had a scar on my right eye, but I think it's gone now. New Town never has had a soccer team. Well they used to, but that stopped after my 9th grade year.
(9:16pm)
I just read a funny rhyme from my book: “If you sprinkle when you tinkle please be neat and wipe the seat.” That reminds me, what takes females so long to use the bathroom. It takes us dudes like 2 minutes or less to pee and get out, it takes women it seems 10 minutes to do the same! I live with three sisters, and everytime I need to use the bathroom, they're in it. It's always when I need to use it badly, too.
(11:23pm)
My brother just texted Jacquynn. He went to Vermont with a family from church whose kids he used to be a manny for. He just told us about a coupon that they found for a free cone. It turns out, they actually meant a free CONE. Not the ice cream, but the waffle cone. I was cracking up!!! But anyways, I forgot to get a picture of my god-parents. They were up here to visit Mrs. Hardeman's sick uncle, and they stopped by. They look different from the last time I saw them 2 months ago. They have more greys. I have grey hairs that randomly sprout now. Oh boy, getting old. Mr. Hardeman landed a new job where he's the head black man in charge. He's Utilities superintendent/ Plant Manager. He was told he probably wouldn't get the job, not because he was black, but other reasons. He ended up getting it anyways, now he's the first black and only black manager at the waste plant.
