First off: rap up from yesterday.
I need to find out a way to get some pictures off of FB. I also see that I have a rough year ahead of me. I wonder if Doña will let me type a blog and post it the next day, because my parents are a little hard at heart in the understanding department, nicest way to put. I, before I graduate want to have atleast one photo of each of my friends. I don't have a single photo, besides Facebook, of any of my friends. If nothing else, I want to be able to prove I had friends. Need to be more social, which of course equates to money, or a date (which means even more money). Need scholarships, and need to complete my college applications. Wow, there's a lot to be done this year. No time to waste. There's also the personal goals of 1) reading atleast 5 books before the year is over, 2) finishing writing my novel before I graduate, and 3) deciding deciding whether or not to publish my “Black Book” entries. If Doña and people I care about and who know and love me can't handle some minor details in my “Black Book”, what are people who don't know. Me going to think? I started two books, Return to Paradise by Simone Elkeles (got because one of the main characters' names is Caleb) and Finding Miracles by Julia Alvarez (got because it was in the “adoption” topic on Destiny). They both seem good. Other books I'm looking for: The Hunger Games, Tulsa Burning by Anne Myers, Searching for Atticus by Jan Marino, and Hip Hop High School.

Today is the birthday for one of my cousins: B.J. (Don't remember, I think about 25 or so). This is also the day my grandpa died, 2 years ago. What's also depressing and exciting about this day, it's exactly 1 week before my birthday. I'll be 19. Yes, I'll be old as dirt. I already know I'm not doing anything for my birthday, unless someone really just talks me into something. Anyways, I love Arianna. She just seems to know me well. I came into school and sat down next to her at a table, and she just asked why I was sad. I wasn't, I was just a little annoyed I had to ride the crowded bus. Seriously, it's like a slave ship. I had a half of a cheek on the seat. I told her about riding the bus, she looked as if she's been there. Wonder if that's why she gets dropped off? I finally got a picture of her, and her friend. It was actually three takes.

In AVID, talking about where my house is on the college quest. We're all in the beginnings, not very far. I'm need 2 more schools for my minimum requirement of 5 schools, need to apply to some scholarships, and want to take an ACT and/or another SAT. We have to come up with a visual representation of our progress. So far, we're just on the artsy stuff. Everyone's mad because we (the Hyperions) have “all” of the artistic people. We don't really. We still need our information though. Our visual is a mountain that's icy at the bottom, then it gets rocky, then rough and dirt like (I think) and then is grassy and sunny at the top. My personal interpretation would be something like: “The road to college is like a mountain: it can be a slippery one, a rocky one, and a tough one, but is all worth the struggle when you make it on top.”

Jazz Ensemble, not always about jazz. Some times we do other things while we wait.

I technically play the cornet, which is just a shorter and fatter trumpet. They have the same pitch, though. But since my cornet is so old, and is a bit stuffy sounding, Mrs. Harris has me playing the school trumpet.

This is a cornet:

This is a trumpet:

We played a song called Blue Skies. I like it. It was my first time playing a jazz piece, though. I was good anyway. I have to get used to the different styles of Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic Winds (concert band).

Just saw what a fallen tree from Irene did to one of the bars on the side of my road.

On a side note, it also felt good that people were giving me props on my shoes and asking for the hook up. I can't get y'all the hook up, though.

  1. My dearest Caleb ... you are correct this blog is HOT! But my eyes are now watering because the font is too small for my old eyes and the white on black starts to give me vertigo after awhile. Can you please just make the font larger when you the post? The most recent entry was much better than the microscopic font in the other entries but I would still prefer it to be at least one size larger. The entry that has your bag of teeth was too much for me to handle. I LOVE that you have so much to say but I am certain there are places where you can let me know you are transitioning to another topic. Can you go back and give me some paragraph breaks? Remember your readers are taking a journey when they read your blog and you need to help them as much as possible. I don't want to take away from your artistic expression but you have to keep your reader in mind. And since Mr. Carney are the most important readers right now I'm gonna need you to write in paragraph form and to post in a larger font.

Do you go back and reread your blog before you post it? I always read mine before publishing it - trying to be aware of my tone and to make sure I'm not rambling. You and Mr. Carney are long winded writers - make sure your writing is strong enough to keep the reader engaged. :) Sometimes less IS more ...

We will work through the posting problems - not to worry. I understand why your parents want to limit your computer use - knowing you like I do you would live on it if you could. Love the video and the fact that you want to be sure to post a photo of all your friends before the year is up. GREAT goal. <3
