(8:46pm)
Lots of stuff today. A lot of stuff. I'm tired. I've been tired the majority of the day. My brother didn't turn the lights off until close to 1 in the morning. Worst parts, 1) he was on his cell phone, you don't need light for that; 2) he woke me up from what little drift I was in to get a number from the Blackberry, I can see that, seeing as that it's locked; and 3) I get up at 6:00-6:30ish, I need sleep. He gets to sleep until 11. I was late (on my terms) to school. I got there at about 7:46. I didn't eat breakfast and I forgot lunch, and had only about 5 hours of sleep, so I was exhausted. I about fell asleep in class. Trey and Prosper, once again, talked about how fresh I looked and tried to give me girl advice. It was good to a point, then it got to radical. You know who I need girl advice from? A GIRL!!!! 1) Who knows the female mind better than a female? 2) It'll teach me how to “talk to girls”. And 3) I'm a guy of balance, I need a council of both sexes. We got a Prezi assignment in health. It's about mental disorders. All of the ones I wanted got taken, so I got depression. I wanted phobia. I have tiny bit of nyctophobia (fear of dark), a huge case of hydrophobia (fear of water. Swimming, to be clear. I won't go anywhere deeper than 5 feet, and forget about jumping or dunking), claustrophobia, and some more that I can't remember the names to, like lightning, arachnids (I remember, just can't spell it), bees and wasps, ants, some dogs, and talking to a crowd of people. You can ask Carney about the last one. All of my fears have stories to go along with them, but that would take a while. Yes, I know it seems I have a lot of fears, but really, living with them has actually made me stronger. I learned to “see” in the dark because of my nyctophobia (meaning I learned to do things in the complete dark), I got my interests about electronics and technology from my fear of lightning, and I learned how to run because of my fear of some dogs. I can't say anything else for my other fears, but yeah, I'm stronger, wiser, so much better, and I never would have made it.....wait a second, did I just quote “Never could have made it” by Donnie McClurkin? That was purely unintentional, y'all. Anyways, in AVID, we had to write our reflections. I just reiterated everything I put on my blog. Other than that, I just wrote whatever came to my mind. Afterwards, we separated into our houses and tried to come up with a commercial and criteria for what the underclassmen (you who are not seniors) should expect. Wow, we all dug under the surface and tried to find a song that represented Hyperion the best. Carney said we should do Walking on Sunshine, but we went with Express Yourself. I have a commercial in mind. But as Doña said, we are a house who's full of ideas. Said sup to fellow Hyperion Kayla Clark as I left class to go to Jazz. Jazz was awesome. I only fumbled a couple of times, and on one song (American Patrol), I was able to get the rhythm down. Jazz is way more fast paced than concert band. In symphonic winds, we would get a piece of music and dibble over it to see what we thought. It would take us about 2 weeks just to get going. Jazz, we had music on the second day and hit the ground sprinting. Not just running, but SPRINTING. We still have to play whatever symphonic winds is playing. We also have to do homecoming and marching band. Anyways, I told Angela Skipper she looked pretty today, just because she was looking at me and I wanted to see what she'd do or say, and she was like “Aaawwww, thank-you!!! You're so sweet!!!!” That was unexpected to me. I thought that she'd just look at me weird or roll her eyes. I went to Doña's room and Doña was there, finally. I almost hugged her, but just went over to the computer to complete my English commercial. It's cracky, but good. Might put it on youtube. Nah. I remembered to make Tiffany a card, but today was too hectic to try and get everyone to write a message to her. Plus, I forgot her email. I got complimented by Doña because, though I don't post everyday, I write my blogs everyday. I walked home. It rained the whole time. Got home, not much happened. Need to charge this phone before I lose all my work.
(10:25pm)
I forgot about pictures, so here's a complete run down of all of the pics I took today.
I helped Ms. Lori hang the AVID banner up. She and Mr. Carney were super nervous about me standing on the chairs and desk while trying to put the banner up. Carney got scared when I hopped down. He thought I was about to try and jump on another desk. I ain't that dumb. They did agree that it was best for me to put the banner up because 1) I'm younger, and 2) Ms. Lori has two kids. They did care that I didn't fall. They don't have insurance.
Ms. Lori's daughter is so adorable. Her name is Zeezee (she has a full name, and I know that the way I spelled her short name might not look right, but bare with me). She likes hanging around Liz. That's like her best friend. She goes to Liz for everything.
I finally got a picture of the glass catfish. They hang out in one spot together and don't seem to move. If you want a clearer picture, go by Mr. Covert's room.
I tried to take a picture of all of y'all's pictures so I could put names with faces, but my camera sucks, so not everyone's pictures look clear. Some of y'all I know, some of y'all I've heard about, some of y'all I've seen, but most of y'all are new to me. I hope to get to know all of you better (I'll hold off on the "y'alls" so I don't sound too country).
Chrysta Churchill:
I live with her, she's my baby sister.
I didn't know Prosper had two more sisters. I'm sure you'll love Hyperion. It'll be much funner than Atlas or Themis. I love your names, by the way: Prosper, Favour, Divine, and Blessing. Are there anymore of y'all? Maybe a Hope, Joy, Truth, maybe even another fruit of the spirit? I'm just teasing.
Asia Johnson:
If nothing else, I'll remember your name because I know atleast 5 Asias. I also know a Chyna, Afrikaa, and America.
Maurice Lowery:
I know you. We were on the wrestling team for 2 weeks 2 years ago, I think. I do know that we ran track together for a season, then you did baseball. I'm sorry, I can't imagine you doing baseball. I'm sure you were good though.
Alex Fuller:
First off, I love how it looks as if you're deep in thought about something. I think I might have heard of you, but I'm not sure. I hear and see hundreds of people everyday. I hope you're one of the good names I heard if I did hear about you.
De'a Gordon:
Not entirely sure how to pronounce your name (“day-uh” I presume). You'd be one of the people that I don't know and have never seen or heard about. You look like you're full of joy and smiles from your picture, so I hope you are. Nice smile by the way.
Kayla Clark:
Ummm.....what could I say about you? I've barily seen you much this year. Last time I saw you was last year's senior farewell. Before that was the week and a half period you and I ran track together. Glad to see you again and have you in Hyperion.
Destiny Coleman:
Destiny, I didn't even know you were in AVID. I just found out when they read your name for house selection. I can't believe I didn't know. Anyways, I know you will have some good contributions to Hyperion. If your mind in the classroom is like you are on the track, we might get somewhere.
Anita Inegbenebor:
You sound and look familiar, don't know why. Do you have a sister in the 11th grade? Oh well. I hope you find Hyperion to your liking. We are truly the best house. Without creativity, there wouldn't be the world. What do you have to offer? I'm sure it's much.
Jamayka Brown:
I now have another country to add to my collection. You're the only Jamayka I know so far, which makes you an original. I look forward to getting to know you better. Do you have some original thoughts to share? Hyperion is your place to share them.
Nneka Uma:
I've heard of you. I can't remember what I've heard, but I have heard someone mention your name before. You look full of ideas and spirit. And what are you gonna do with it? Wait, I think we all know that answer. That's why you're in Hyperion, to spread your wonderful ideas! I can't wait to see what you have.
Jenny Zhang:
I haven't heard much about you, but a couple of the seniors were complaining that you didn't get into their house, so glad to have you on board with US. I'm guessing you're well liked, so I know you'll be friendly. You look kind of like the quiet type. Are you? It's okay if you are, most of the seniors are quiet types. It's the quiet ones that have more focus. Even if you're not quiet, I'm sure you have much to contribute.
Brettnee Cockrell:
I like how your name is spelled. I'll have to be sure to pronounce it that way. If it's not, I apologize. I see you're involved in a sport. I can't tell what by your jersey though. It's nice to have diverse interests in life. Are you a soccor player? Track runner? Softball player? What ever you like to do, express yourself. I can already tell you are ready for this year.
Hybia McCain:
You're a hyper girl, it seems. I've seen you around school and have even eaten lunch with you. You are full of energy, use it greatly. Hyperion needs creative and energetic minds. You'll fit just fine (it's in the name: HYPERion).
Devon Cofield:
You look tall in your picture. I feel like I would need to stand 3 feet away as to not strain my neck trying to talk to you. You also look very serious, as if focused on every detail of creativity. We could use you, you look ready to work. Welcome to the best house you could ever be in.
Sharmara Kennedy:
I know you belong in Hyperion. Wow, I haven't seen you in ages. Atleast I can finally remember your name. Hyperion is for those who can create something and dig deeper into the content or meanings. We take an ordinary picture or idea and give it meaning. Hyperion is perfect for you, and you it. Welcome.
Martin Davis:
How in the world did I end up with you? Naw, just playing. You might be perfect for this house. I mean you managed to always take every word that I've said and turned it into a country hick accent. I'm country, but I ain't no hick. Do people still call you coach Davis' son. Poor coach. Kidding.
Debonique Ramos:
You, without a doubt, fit here. I can look at you and tell. You are very creative. I haven't seen you since Seño's Spanish 2 class. You were always funny. I have no doubt that you will have a lot of input in Hyperion.
Shanel Eames:
I think I've seen you around school, but I can't be too certain. I would guess that you are the type that puts in the extra effort and works to go beyond just telling something, but also showing it. By that, I mean you don't just put info on a poster board and try to reiterate what you got from a book, but make it pop. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I know you're smart and will do your best.
Terence Williams:
I know you. You either used to be in band or are still in band but I haven't seen you since I'm in Jazz. Either way, I know you're skilled and talented. You fit right in. I see you almost every time I'm with Doña. You probably bug her half as much as I do. You also seem to have a desire to learn and go beyond 2-demension. Go for the 3D (I mean, go beyond what's taught, apply and learn new skills and knowlege).
Jarren Purnell:
I remember seeing your interview. You seem calm, cool, and collected, three important traits to have in everything that you do. Always keep that. It's those traits that will allow you to pour out and process your inner creativity. We need minds that are calm, cool, and collected in Hyperion that will allow us to go further. Are you up to the challenge? Of course you are.
Daylin Speights:
Daylin. That's original. I've never heard of it. You look very laid back. That is very good to have when creating something, such as a poster, a painting, or even an essay for college. It also can allow you to be more focused and sharp mentally. There's a place for you in Hyperion. I hope you enjoy this experience in Hyperion as well as high school.
Brianna Boyer:
You seem like a very exciting person. You also look like if you saw someone down, you would rush to raise them up. I would also guess that you are very insightful and are just bursting with bright ideas. Keep that bright energy and lovely smile, Hyperion needs you and your indivisual input.
Edann Ofray:
Little Edann. Haven't seen you since track ended. You seem bubbly and full of lots and lots of energy and vigor. I hope you're as creative as you are energetic. Hyperion can use that energy, it's what will get the gears turning on a well oiled machine.
Aaron Scott:
You and your brother look almost nothing alike. Y'all do have that creative spirit, though. Do you still play in band? If so, keep up the good work. Hyperion is the place to express yourself through everything; music, dance, even technology. Use your gifts and talents to the max.
Bria Timmons:
I've seen you in the hallways and heard of your name, I just didn't put them together. You look like a lively person, energetic, and assiduous. Put all of that together and you can a functioning machine. Keep on smiling.
Naomi Barrett:
You remind me of someone, I just don't know who. You look confident and vigorous. We could use that in Hyperion. It takes confidence to put your ideas in the pool, and vigor to make it pop out and make it happen. Go for gold and don't settle for anything less than your best.
Brennan Pettigen:
I've heard your name metioned for something good. I can't remember what, but glad to have you on board. You look like you might be athletic and hard-working. Do you play any sports? You also look like you might have a head bursting with input, but might be quiet. Don't worry, if you are quiet or shy, every idea is a good input.
Theona Robinson:
At first glance, you kind of reminded me of my sister, Jacquynn. Y'all both had pretty much the same hair style and face structure. I can see you're just aching to lift Hyperion up with your bright ideas. I can't wait to see what's in store.
Le'shae Harris:
You look like you have a very unique style of things. Indivisuality is kind of a main focus in Hyperion. Let your indivisual and creative spirit guide you this year, not just in Hyperion and AVID, but also in school and out in the world. It will lead you to greatness.
Robert Lane:
I know your sister. She is very cool. She's kinda the one that holds down the group. I hear you and her are a little different, but that's to be expected. Not all siblings or family members are alike, that's what sets us apart from everyone else in the world. Be an original, that's what will make you a great asset to Hyperion.
Datwuin Richardson:
You have a name that I don't know how to say, too. It's an original spelling. I don't know you well, but welcome to Hyperion. We need young minds of today to create a better future. Live up to that challenge, and you can make the world a better place.
Cierra Burwell:
Ready for action, for adventure, or to say something insightful? I can't tell by your picture. Maybe it's everything and more. A picture may be worth 1,000 words, but a person's heart says a million things about them. What kind of person are you? Funny? Energetic? Innovative? Assiduous maybe? Whatever it is, it's only yours to own. Welcome to Hyperion.
Katie Cosby:
You wouldn't be Bill Cosby's granddaughter, would you? Naw, I'm just teasing. People used to ask if I was related to Winston Churchill. I'm black, he's white, how could we be related? Anyways, you look very bright, full of energy, and inspiration. I'm sure you'll use it in your school career and beyond. Whatever it is you have to offer, it will be greatly accepted. Take risks, throw your ideas in the pool, make magic happen.
Once again, welcome all of you to the House of Hyperion, house of creativity. You each have your own indivisual ideas to contribute, and like the incandescent sun, you will all shine you lights brightly and warmly on us as well as the world. It only takes one to make a difference, so let your colors burst (yes, I quoted Katy Perry). You'll probably hear more about us at our upcoming house meeting, so I'll just roll over and go to sleep (it's past 1:30 in the morning).
I almost forgot about one person. Sorry, but your name wasn't on your picture. You look super energetic and resourceful. I'm not entirely sure I've seen you before. I might have. You have a great smile that beams of confidence. I really want to get to know all of the people in Hyperion, so PLEASE respond and tell me your name so that I can get to know you better.
