(5:30pm)
Wow, I can't believe this is the first time I've typed my blog. But anyways, I missed my orthodontist appointment. I actually forgot about it. Today in AP Bio, we did a lab with chicken liver. It was disgusting, but cool. We had to immerse a piece of paper in different concentrations of chicken liver, which provided an enzyme. (There's an enzyme in blood that breaks down hydrogen peroxide.) I got partnered with Bonita Robinson. We took the piece of paper that we soaked in the chicken liver solutions and placed it in a cup of peroxide and timed how long it took for the paper to rise to the top. The more concentrated the solution, the quicker it rose. The blood was breaking down the hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. When that reaction happened, the oxygen pushed the paper to the top. The real fun was combining all of the liquids. The reaction just got hot and foamed.
(9:45pm)
I'm mad. I just typed a whole blog, but this phone erased most of it. Now I have to type some more. I'll just type the stuff that stood out in my day. A2, talked about bullying and abuse. Got mad thinking about how I've been bullied all of my life. There was a fight in the hall way, which impeded me getting to AVID. There are way to many fights started over worthless...stuff. Who cares if someone looked at you wrong or called you out of your name? You ain't gonna think about them in 5 years....unless you marry them. AVID, Socratic seminar on Hope in the Unseen. I did well, better than I did in Carney's AP English class. I actually had input in the conversation. I also asked a question. I barely prepared, though. The packet sat on top of my dad's stereo in the living room until roughly this morning. I also only got about half of the last chapter done. I had a somewhat moderate amount of input in the inner circle, but I didn't give any feedback in the outer circle. Next time around, I will need to have the chapters read and maybe a bit of notes. Overall, I think my group was prepared for the discussion. The quality of the conversation was well and on point. There were a couple of times when Amber and Kendal took over the conversation. Then again, Amber has always been a power house, which is why she's in Atlas. I tried to make a video of the other groups talking, but there's virtually no sound. It (phone) couldn't pick up the voices. Jazz ensemble, I'm getting better. I'm learning the music at a steady pace. We began playing “It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)”, “Little Brown Jug”, and solos for “Bossa Madiera”. I'm not playing a solo, but three others (a trumpet, a trombone, and a flute. Yes, even a flute) played. I was thinking about re-learning the clarinet. Turns out (and I wasn't thinking this when I thought about playing clarinet) jazz bands, larger ones, have clarinet. Only things impeding playing clarinet, 1) need to buy one along with reeds, because I don't want to have to borrow the school's instruments more than I have to (I'm already using the school's trumpet); 2) last time I played clarinet was in 6th grade, and I can't remember any of how to hold or finger it; 3) playing clarinet, in my opinion, is a tad harder than playing the trumpet. I do want to give it a try though, along with piano, guitar, viola, bass, cello, sax, harmonica, and oboe. I still have drums.....somewhat (it's been a while since I played).
