TGIM: Thank God it's Monday!!! Or atleast that’s the video title.
It had some good points to it that we should use everyday, not just Monday. AVID scholars especially should follow it. One of the sub topics was that we are here by choice and that we should treat our job (or AVID, in our case as well as school) as a blessing. We could be worse off. Think of all of the people who wish they could have our opportunities. There aren’t any you say? Look deeper, listen around. Trust me, you’ll find some. I know of a couple who wish they could have been in AVID, not dropped AVID, not been kicked out of AVID, or even wish they had AVID at their school (that one’s mostly teachers). Don’t treat AVID like it’s a bird’s course (old time term that means you can “fly by” in a class), like I did for the first year and a half, because you won’t even take flight long enough before you end up falling right on your beaks. And once a baby bird falls, it’s in danger of being taken by predators. I know it’s a bird analogy, but it’s true.
Just in case you're wondering what I did the rest of the day, I climbed a wall and hopped a fence to walk home. I've been climbing since I could walk.
