September 22, 2011
(9:00am)
I see getting to school after or at 7:40, even if it's not yet 7:50, to be late. My father sees being at school at 7:45 to be the earliest I should be at school. He also doesn't want me to leave the house before 7:20. It takes me at the least (if I'm really booking it and my bag isn't heavy) 21 minutes. I like to be able to get to school at the least at 7:35 so I can relax and talk to my friends. Can we see a clash here?

(5:10pm)
I'm ready to go. I'm standing out front waiting for my sisters. Why are they so slow? Now they're here and walking slow.

(5:17pm)
Jason Gibbert, get your stuff together!!! Gibbert called Jacquynn and asked her to bring an iron with her. Question: If Atlas is the best house, why is it that not everyone is organized? Hyperion ALL way!!!!

(5:21pm)
Still waiting for my sisters to catch up (thanks a lot, Gibbert). Future note: If y'all don't hear about me telling off Jason, just assume I'm showing mercy and restraint.

(5:24pm)
This is why I walk alone. My sisters are getting on all my nerves with their incessant bickering, singing, and complaining.

(5:27pm)
I'm walking and typing at the same time. I'm on on the sidewalk now, but it's still not safe.

(5:31pm)
We should have left at 5:00 like I said. Now we're late.

(5:38am)
I probably look crazy. I've been dancing to Michael Jackson while I was walking. I'm also covered in a bunch of tiny flies. I kept walking through thick clouds of them. They're on my shirt, face, and eyes. Now I feel like a car windshield without wipers.

(6:09pm)
Turns out we didn't have to be here until 6. Anyways, I get to be one of the representatives for my house to light the new AVID scholars' candles. I just have to say I pass the AVID torch of perseverance to you every time I light one. There's close to 70 new scholars, divide by 8 (for the 7 other seniors) that's about 10. But each scholar is supposed to light 3 other scholars next to them, so I don't know. About to start.

(9:14pm)
Even though we'll probably write about this in class, I'm gonna write about tonight anyways while it's fresh on my mind. This was probably my favorite induction. I'm a senior, I got to take a part in passing the torch to underclassmen, got some people I know in my house, and it was the shortest one (just an hour and 5 or 6 minutes). I am a little upset (and surprised) that Ebony McPherson didn't get in Hyperion. When I heard her say that she wanted to be in Hyperion, I thought Cool, I hope we have the same house. That'd be so awesome. But she's not. Now I can't constantly bug her with Ebony and Ivory. I swear, if I find a kid out there whose name is Ivory, I'm gonna introduce them. She'll probably hit me and hate me for it, but I think it'd be fun. She's cool beans though. I didn't know she drew and wrote stories. I might have to see if she'll show me. Her father's funny, too. Here's a pic of her father reciting the AVID parents' response to her.

She was so embarrassed, mostly because of the things he was saying. My phone camera is kinda crappy in dim lit places. I also have Chrysta in my house. I forgot a pen tonight (only time I forget to bring a pen) to mark everyone who's in my house. I only got Ms. Dauka's 11th grade class: Katie Cosby, Martin Davis, Shamara Kennedy, Maurice Lowery, Debonique Ramos, Bria Timmons, and Terence Williams. I know some of them. I'll get the rest of the names and pictures (and maybe even profiles and essays) from Doña. One girl (Jamee Lopez) was excited about her house. She was right behind me, and as soon as they said what house she was in (Atlas I think), she whispered YES loudly. I actually saw her AVID interview. Coincidentally, Jason Gibbert (from Atlas) was the one who gave the interview. I am, however, mad about one thing. Because my mom had to run around dropping my father off at the doctors and my brother at work AND to a game to be a referee, she wasn't able to attend. She did, however, get to sign the banner made by Ms. Lori. I need to ask he what she majored in. If it's graphic design, we're gonna have a little talk.

Kim's speech

Kim again

(10:26pm)
Some things I missed. Not really anything after the ceremony. Just snuck up behind Yemi and gave her a hug, then hugged Agnes, then went home. So I guess I'll say some things about my day. Today, I saw Arianna cry for the second time since I've known her (the first time, DoñArianna started laughing. I don't know how long I was looking at her (maybe a second, maybe two) before our eyes met. We just smiled, then I turned to watch the American Idol clip. It had something to do with satire. After the clip, we watched some of the commercials that had been done (class project). Some one did shoes (two actually), someone did safe sex (never knew NIKE made condoms), and Khalid Jones' didn't work. Arianna's, she's my best friend and I love her, but hers was kinda long, drawn out, and boring. Then again, she had Mashood Alaka help her. He just wanted some alone time, he didn't know what he was doing. Her's was about 2012 graduation. Best year!!!! It was good. Probably would have been better if Alaka hadn't tried to help her. She wants to see mine. I'm almost done. Just a few more touches. I made it shorter so that it's 2 minutes shorter. Now it's 4 minutes. I also have my Tiffany Evans I'll be there commercial on standby.

(11:04pm)
Wow. How could I forget about Tiffany. It's so sad that she couldn't make it tonight. We never did light a candle in her honor. I'll light one tomorrow....if someone has a candle. She was greatly missed. I think I might also make a card for her. It'd only take me about 5 minutes. It would be decorated with the best minds in the best house in AVID. And yes, I do mean the BEST house, the house of HYPERION!!!!

September 21, 2011
(9:00am)
One of the fish in Covert's tanks has a baby fish. I can almost bet it. There was a teeny tiny fish zipping around. Other than that, Trey told me that I need to start talking to more girls. He's not gonna let me go to prom alone. Niether's my dad.

(7:21pm)
Today started off stressful. I didn't leave my apartment until 7:12, so I didn't get to school until 7:37. I now have Prosper and Trey on my back about having fresh clothes but not sporting them (the whole time, I have no clue what I'm doing. I don't pay attention to labels, I just get dressed), we talked about coping with death and suicide in health, and in AVID, my heart sank. Hyperion (the best house) is in last place with points because 2 of our house mates didn't send their URLs or their bios. I see that as some of my fault because I went through and followed everyone in my house's blogs, but didn't see their's. I kept forgetting to ask them what was up. We're down 200 points now. If we weren't, then we'd be in close 2nd. But it ain't how ya start, it's how ya finish. We are still #1, just ask Doña, she still has our poster hanging up on her door.

Our tri-fold is HOT!!! Literally. I stayed with Kimberly to help add some finishing touches.

I have to hand it to Atlas, theirs looked pretty good.

Then again, they didn't have the set back of having to paste paper onto their tri-fold like we did. Our's is based on indivisuality. Look at mine.

Not to brag, but that is one handsome stud there. Tiffany hasn't been to school due to a concussion, so we did her's for her. I hope she's able to come to the induction.

Kim is our spokesperson for the house. Our house is full of quiet souls, so we just elected kim to do it. I'm sure she'll do fine. She's strong. Doña made me and Jacquynn add that we had siblings in AVID. I completely forgot about writing that.

(8:16pm)
I just thought of something. When senior year's over, it will be the first time ever that Jacquynn and I will be separated for more than a 2 week's period. From the time we were tykes, we've been pretty much jointed.

(9:30pm)
I just thought of some girls I could ask to prom. I may as well just get a list of girls since 1) it's my senior year, 2) there are some really desent and pretty girls here, 3) there are some girls I've had a bit of a crush on since freshman year, and 4) it's better to have asked and been rejected than to have not asked at all. I'm not gonna name the girls until maybe after prom, but I know I'll make a good choice.

(9:52pm)
Trey told me earlier that he was going to get me a shirt that has What the H*** on it. He said it'd be my catch phrase if I were a cartoon.

(10:20pm)
1) Stumped on who I should ask for prom. I had about 5, but one wants to ask a mutual friend of ours (her parents would like him); one I could, but she's a Junior; and two of them are good friends that I kinda don't want to ask them. That leaves one. She's pretty, cool, and smart, but does that mean I should ask her? Besides her being the only one on my list that I can't think of why not asking?

2) Have y'all tried Stadium Nacho Doritos? They are delicious. They actually taste like nachos you get at the stadium, fake cheese and all.

3) Chinese food is so greasy. How do they manage to stay healthy? Or is this their way at getting back at us for McDonald's?

4) Anxious about tomorrow. Can't wait to see all of the faces of the kids coming into the #1 house (Hyperion).

5) I can't believe Kayla Clark thought I was a junior. Do I really look that young? Well, atleast she didn't say sophomore. Then again, she is a sophomore. I hope she's in Hyperion, she's kinda cool.

6) Have you ever looked at a photo and been like who's that good-looking person and the whole time, you know it's you, but you just look so different? That's the pic Doña used for my bio, the picture my pastor took at his daughter's sweet 16 party. Only time I would ever where a suit: weddings, funerals, special holidays, and occassionally a party. I've been told many times that I look handsome and happy in that photo. Also that I should smile more often since I have a beautiful smile. Mrs. Cathirell actually still has my Christmas card I sent her last year with that photo on it in her office. That and Arianna's thank-you card from 10th grade are the only 2012 pictures she has. I think those are the only student pics she has in her office.

September 20, 2011
(4:14pm)
Still stressful. I was mad a majority of the day. Few noticed. By few, I mean 2: Trey Barnes and Prosper (can't remember how to spell his name).

(10:41pm)
1) Chrysta and I share a mutual friend. I found that out when we were walking. It's the same girl that I mentioned earlier that had come up to me and hugged me one day (dark skinned, skinny, has glasses, braces, 10th grade). I remember her name, but can't spell it (but if I had to guess, it's Kamira). I think she's in AVID, but I'm not sure. I need to tackle my book harder. 7 chapters, over 100 pages, in under a week's time....yeah, need work. Which reminds me, the Hood College admissions office emailed me. They were just notifying me that they received my May SAT scores. I forgot to email back what about June SATs. My June score was the best one. AVID induction on Thursday. Not a very classy outfit since I only have one orange shirt that's neat and appropriate. I hope and pray that we have a good house. Khalil Campbell and I already earned points in English today, I hope everyone is earning points, especially Hyperion. Off topic, does President Obama see what people are doing with imitations of him? There are about 100 look a likes of Barack Obama. Youtube is full of them.

September 19, 2011

September 19, 2011
(6:14pm)
I just got up 14 minutes ago. I feel tired as all get out. It's my best friend Zakk Williams' birthday today. It's also Esther Gomez's, a good friend of mine, birthday. There's a third person, but I forgot who. I know, it's shameful. They're 18 today. Hope they enjoy it.

(5:27pm)
Today was very stressful. VERY, VERY stressful. In AVID, had to make our trifold for the induction. We had to figure out a crest, a mantra or quote, and some form of picture or clip art that represented our house. I mean, let us know last weekend and we might have been able to do it more fluently. But we got told today that it had to be done today or else it was a 0. That put a lot of stress on all of us. We did get our boards decorated with our names and pictures, but it's not done. I should have taken a pic. Doña was deeply stressed out. She always is this time of year. The only comfort I have is that we're the best house. Doña still has our poster hanging up on her door. Also, maybe Bonita should be in Hyperion. She started fake crying, but it looked sooooo real. I wish I could have recorded that. I wish y'all could have seen Doña and Carney's faces. They were stunned, too. Speaking of Carney, we have to read 7 chapters of Hope in the Unseen. It has to be done by Tuesday next week, but that (like everything else Carney has done) still caused me more stress. Jazz band came last. Jazz is about 10 times more fast paced than concert band. We played 2 new songs today, I barily kept up. Called my mom to say I'm staying after school, she was frustrated. I stayed to work on my blog and my English project. There was something wrong with the internet, so I couldn't upload any new pictures on my project. Doña's hotspot wasn't up, so I couldn't get on my blog. I decided to do everything else on my project with the pictures I had, but then it wouldn't let me log on. I swear I almost wanted to just smash that computer into the ground. I got so mad that I just left. I just popped in my head phones and walked home.

(8:10pm)
I forgot about my picture for today. Mr. Covert got fish today. The coolest one was the glass catfish. It was see through. You could see all of its bones and organs. They did like to hide though.

September 18, 2011

So, I haven’t had time to write, so here’s a brief breakdown of my day.

1.   Had to run the PowerPoint by myself today because Ms. Wendy had to pick up her daughter from a sleepover and Ms. Tonya had to teach. It was my first time and I was a little nervous
2.  Guest speaker said something that made me want to jump up and shout out AMEN to: Rap music of today seems to make you dumber.
3.  He also kept pronouncing Target (the store) like Tar-jay. I thought it was a french store at first, and then I spelled it in my mind.
4.  My dad made me put in an application for Tar-jay because I was talking about how the speaked said it. I wasn't dogging him out, I just never heard it said that way before. Anyways, I don't mind.
5.  Jacquynn is a gold digger, she has way too many husbands
6.  Being a scavenger has its perks. I found a pair of ear phones in a pile of magazines at a tire place while my dad was looking for tires for our suburban.

September 17, 2011
(11:48am)
It's raining hard. My sisters bicker and fight like they're 5 years old. We're all sitting in the car waiting for our youth leader to show up so we can start our meeting. I'm thinking about my English project. I've listen to my song at least 5 times so I could brainstorm ideas about what to put on it. I have some good ideas, I just need to find the pictures, videos, and time to do it all.

(1:08pm)
Quick questions:
1) Is it wrong if your parents say they want your email address and password and you don't give it to them?
2) Is it bad if there's a game on TV and me being a teen don't watch it?
3) If I like a girl a lot, but don't ask her, am I (A) cheating myself, (B) weak, (C) showing low self esteem, or (D) just normal beyond recognition (this isn't a multiple choice, by the way)

Other side, I've been listening to Heal the World by Michael Jackson so that I could get an idea of how to do my project. I'll show the end product on the blog later.

September 16, 2011

September 16, 2011
(7:02am)
It is chilly out here. I'm walking and typing at the same time. Man it's cold. It's not gonna get higher than 60 degrees.

(8:10pm)
I just broke this blackberry. I fixed it, but it's just not going to be as strong. The roller ball fell out when I dropped it by accident. I don't know how I'll get anything done without the blackberry. On a random note, I told Ebony that she should get a friend named Ivory, she said it wasn't funny.

(10:11pm)
Walking home today, I saw Janessa Scott. She was in a car leaving with some friends of hers. She was actually exiting from the apartment complexes I live in. She waved to me. I also found out that Coach Davis, my track coach, lives just down the road from me. He was behind me while I was walking home. I knew there was someone behind me, but when I turned down my street, I saw him. I was scared for a second, then surprised. I said hi, he said it back. On a side note, my sisters got a late graduation cake last night. The frosting got melted away and smeared their names. Chystas name now looks like Chrusto.

(10:24pm)
The fish got in. I couldnt get a clear picture, though. They swim too quickly.
